Just wanted to let you know that I've added a few new photos on Flickr. The photos uploaded on November 15 are all photos taken in September 2011.
This particular photo of Fire Extinguishers was taken in Ishinomaki. It must have been around 6:30 AM when we just arrived there after driving the whole night. These were the ruins after the tsunami triggered by the big earthquake in March 2011.
Other photos that I uploaded are the some shots of the beach and sea in the Island of Shikinejima. Be sure to check them out.
Just to let you know, the photos that I uploaded on Flickr till date are not manipulated in any way. I have this eerie feeling about adding any kind of filter or processing it in photoshop. I'm not against people who are doing it, but for me the whole photo is the design, and a photo should look good without photoshop.
That being said, I do understand the power of photoshop and how it can enhance or create something that cannot be achieved with just a camera. And I totally support that. In fact, I may start doing that myself in the coming weeks and months. But, for now, I'm sticking to designing by framing and designing by choosing a specific angle.
And by the way, the photos that I put up on Flickr are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution license. So, please feel free to use them. However, I also understand that sometimes attribution is not always possible if you, for example, use the photo for a website background, a banner or some kind of video. If that is the case, I will be more than happy to let you use them without attribution if you just let me know where you use them. Or better yet, you could even ask for a higher resolution, than than ones in Flickr, from me.
